We appreciated royal garden inn from the moment we entered. Taste the food in Plum Restaurant, you only need to walk 350 feet to reach it.

Do not recommend!
General information: No smoke detector. Toilet plugged and ran over and the wouldn't come fix it. Ants in the bath tub. Dried food stuck to the walls. Lights had no switches. Smeared poop on wall! Air conditioner falling off the wall. Wifi didn't work. Exterior was dirty.

The location and price were excellent. The staff was also very professional.
There seemed to be random, sketchy characters hanging about. In all likelihood just other guests, but as I saw people congregating around stairwells it almost had the feel of a motel. Also, the continental breakfast left much to be desired. The mini muffins were great, but the biscuits and gravy were awful. Some fresh fruit would go a long way.

The air-con is extremely noise and like sleeping at airport runway.

The room, the parking facilities, the pool, the service at the front desk! The location.
The breakfast was poor, actually they weren't prepared at all. There was no butter, and a no real buffet. It was more like in a youth hostel and the person responsible for the service was absent most of the time. I expected a lot more!!! I was somehow disappointed!

Price
Hot tub was broken and ran down. The top blanket on the bed seems not to have been washed in a long time. As it had bugers smeared all over it and a pillow case stained with cigarettes.

Clean updated bathroom continental breakfast
Old, not clean, sad that it looks as if it were a grand place in it's day but now is unkept and deteriorating.

The best thing about the hotel is it's location, I could park the car and walk to the downtown / Temple Square area fairly easily (15-20mins at a leisurely pace)
The room was shabby and not particularly clean, there were several long dark hairs in different areas of the room including hanging from a picture frame which was very easy to spot but still not cleaned. The seating area outside the room was thick with dust and didn't look like it had been cleaned since the season started. Breakfast area was not clean which could be down to the people using the area at that time rather than a general uncleanliness but none the less it was not clean.

The pool area was nice and we had a very warm welcome at Reception.
The room had a dreadful smell and the advertised Laundry room was in fact at the hotel next door.
